This is a review of the picks and bets we made last week. Let’s see how we did Week 3.

Another winning week for us. There were some wild games this week. Let’s break things down.

Packers fans crying. Browns fans cheering.

How Did the Model Do?

Here are the Week 3 picks, including the actual results for the week.

This image includes the actual margin of victory (negative if the away team won) and whether or not The Model picked the winner, picked the winner vs the spread (i.e. to cover or win with points), and if the odds picked the winner.

The odds favorite won in 75% of games. Nice. The Model on the other hand only picked the winner 63% of the time, same as last week, and the week before. Hmmm.

The Model won against the spread 63% of the time. Let’s break that down. Here are all of the predictions The Model made where it won against the spread.

  • Bills to cover.
  • Steelers to cover.
  • Eagles to cover.
  • Tampa Bay to cover.
  • Washington to cover.
  • Seahawks to cover.
  • Chiefs to cover.
  • Cardinals to win. (They lost, but won with points.)
  • Bears to win as underdogs.
  • Lions to win as underdogs.

Here are the games where The Model got wrong vs the spread:

  • Titans to win as underdogs. They lost.
  • Vikings to win but not cover. The Vikings won by 38 points.
  • Falcons to win and cover. They lost 30 to 0. I still don’t know what happened there.
  • Texans to win as underdogs. They lost.
  • Packers to win and cover. They lost to the Browns!!! 😛
  • Broncos to win, but not cover. They lost outright.

I thought writing that out might show a pattern, but I don’t really see any. Maybe you do. Let me know. I’ll leave it in there.

How Did We Do on Our Bets?

We won about $1004 on $800 in bets. Our best week yet, about 2 units. The games were really choppy, but we got lucky with our 3 way parlay on Thursday and the Eagles pulling out the win last minute saved our winning 3 win parlay Sunday. We also won on our Lions bet, and although the Cardinals lost, the 2.5 points pulled out a win for us there too.

Week 4 picks are coming soon. Our video (clocking in at just about 36 minutes this week) is posted already over on YouTube. Check it out.
